Research Summary

I have a bachelor degree in chemical biology from Institute of Technology at Linköping University as well as a Master degree in Molecular Genetics and Physiology. My Master thesis was done at the Department of Cell Biology at Linköping University hospital. The project was for 1 year (60 ECTS) and the main topic was the involvement of the two signaling pathways Wnt and Notch in colorectal cancer.
I started my PhD-education in the autumn of 2010 at the Lundberg Laboratory for Diabetes Research. The focus of my research is on type 2 diabetes and obesity, and the title of my project was: ”WISP-2 – a novel adipokine related to obesity and insulin resistance” with Professor Ulf Smith as supervisor and Associate Professor Ann Hammarstedt as co-supervisor. The thesis was defended the 19th of March 2015 with Professor Antonio Vidal-Puig as opponent. From my dissertation to December 2016 I was employed as a researcher at the Lundberg Laboratory for Diabetes Research focusing on WISP2 and its mechanisms using in vitro and in vivo models. From January 2017 I’m currently employed as a Post Doctoral Research Associate for Professor Antonio Vidal-Puig in the TVPLab, Metabolic Research Laboratories (MRL) at the Wellcome Trust-MRC Institute of Metabolic Science (IMS). My project will focus how fatty acid qualitative composition impacts metabolic flexibility and function in the adipose tissue using a in vivo model lacking Fatty Acid Desaturate 3(FADS3). I currently founded by an external grant for 2 years fromHenning and Johan Throne-Holsts foundation for promoting scientific research.
