This year as part of the Cambridge Science Festival in March we were offering places in an escape room, which was developed by first year students at the Institute of Metabolic Science.

Unfortunately because of precautions related to the COVID-19 (Coronavirus) outbreak, the University has taken the difficult decision to cancel the ‘hands-on’ events and so our escape room will not run. Particular concerns are around large numbers attending these events, contact time for researchers and members of public, lack of hand-washing facilities and the impracticality of sanitising objects between groups. While this goes beyond current government advice about gatherings, many of our researchers work in hospital buildings or directly with patients, so we hope that you understand our reasons for the precaution.

We do intend to run our escape room in future and members of the Metabolic Network are welcome to join us to help run our activities so please contact jms80@medschl.cam.ac.uk if you might be interested!
