Career Paths in Cardiovascular & Metabolism – making the connections

11th March 2022 @ 12:30 pm - 6:00 pm

Logos

Friday 11 March 2022, St Catherine’s College, Cambridge

This collaborative event was specifically tailored for Metabolic and Cardiovascular early career researchers (ECRs) and the programme content informed by the results of a survey highlighting the career pathways they would be most interested in learning about.

The event was attended by over 40 ECRs (including post-docs and graduate students) who wanted to find out how to maximise the impact of their work within industry and those possibly considering a change of career direction or with a general interest in the formation of spin out companies, as well as those interested in other career areas such as media and publishing. Our speakers, some of whom are Cambridge Alumni, talked about Industry clinical trials, R&D and drug discovery (AstraZeneca, Mogrify and Novo Nordisk), as well as publishing (Nature Metabolism), media, communications and public engagement. Representatives from Cambridge Enterprise, Connect Health Tech, The Milner Therapeutics Institute and University Careers Service also gave short talks and were available to chat more informally at breaktimes.
