HOW AND WHY WOULD YOU DO DATA SCIENCE IN HEALTH?
Dr Philippe Giabbanelli, Investigator Scientist, Centre for Diet and Activity Research (CEDAR), University of Cambridge
Monday 16 March 2015, 15:00 – 16:30 Large Seminar Room, 1st Floor, Cambridge Institute of Public Health
“Data science” covers a wide range of methods. These include finding patterns in the data through interactive visualizations, systematically assessing these patterns using data mining, or going beyond the data via simulations. In this talk, I will provide a broad overview of these different methods and the type of questions that they can be used for. Examples will be provided through my work in health, including research on data science in obesity and binge drinking. No prior knowledge about the methods is required as the talk aims to provide a broad introduction, but advanced questions are also encouraged.
