Description:
This workshop, led by Understanding Animal Research, outlines the Concordat on Openness on Animal Research and provides advice and practical information on how best to talk about the use of animals in your research.

Target audience: Research staff and PhD students

Duration: 2.5 hours

Format: Participative workshop for 30 combining talks and practical group activities as preparation for face-to-face or media communication.

Aims:

• To provide a short overview of the Concordat and the laws related to the use of animals in research.
• To give researchers an understanding of the public’s opinion of research using animals.
• To give researchers the confidence to talk to a scientifically interested public about their research.
• To touch on how best to deal with difficult questions from the public, the media and campaigners.
