Using CPRD in Cambridge: an introduction and Q&A session

26th November 2015 @ 8:00 am - 5:00 pm

Free
The University holds a site licence for the Clinical Practice Research Datalink (CPRD), managed by the Primary Care Unit. CPRD is a large database of coded electronic health records, containing primary care data on around 8% of the UK population. Information includes demographics, diagnosis, administrative events and prescribing, and linkages can be obtained to other data sources including Hospital Episode Statistics (HES), ONS, and various disease registers (e.g. cancer, MINAP).

There is growing interest across the Network in using this resource, but we want to make 2016 the year in which this interest translates into research. The Primary Care Unit will therefore hold a presentation and Q&A session on January 12th in the Institute of Public Health, covering relevant topics including what data is available, types of work that can be done with CPRD, procedures for accessing the data and costs. This will be open to anyone who might be interested in using CPRD, regardless of seniority or previous experience.

They are keen to receive any additional suggestions or questions that we might address during the session (bearing in mind it is a 90 minute session!) – they are unlikely to be able to accommodate all requests, but please send an email to Rupert Payne (rap55@medschl.cam.ac.uk) and they will try to answer your questions on the day.
