The Chichger lab focuses on how metabolic and cellular pathways regulate lung health and disease, with particular interest in the role of the pulmonary endothelium, epithelial barrier function and cellular responses to metabolic stress. A key theme is understanding how altered metabolism contributes to lung injury and chronic disease, and how metabolic pathways can be targeted to promote tissue resilience and repair.
We’re especially interested in how metabolic and environmental cues shape cellular adaptation within the lung, and how dysregulated metabolism drives changes in barrier integrity, inflammation and vascular function. We combine cell biology, molecular approaches, imaging and functional assays to investigate these mechanisms and identify new pathways linking metabolism to lung disease.
