The Nathan lab focuses on how metabolic and hypoxic pathways are sensed and integrated at the molecular level, through HIF signalling, mitochondrial biology and the ubiquitin-proteasome system. A key theme is how these oxygen-sensing mechanisms are rewired in disease, with strong links to cancer metabolism and immune-mediated conditions.
We're especially interested in how metabolic and hypoxic cues shape adaptation both in the immune setting and in how cancers exploit these pathways for their own advantage. We combine biochemistry, metabolomics, genetics and functional genomics to dissect these pathways.
